Using the European Southern Observatory's Chile-based Very Large Telescope, researchers studied a white dwarf located about 63 light years from Earth. A light year is the distance light travels in a year, 5.9 trillion miles. Like all white dwarfs, it is incredibly dense, packing about 70% of the sun's mass into an Earth-sized object. | |
